The Power Assessment and Training Centre, based at Carshalton and Kingston Colleges, is offering a variety of new training courses in Solar PV, Solar Thermal Hot Water and the Green Deal Kitemark.

There is a significant increase in demand for renewable sources of energy such as Solar PV and Solar Thermal Hot Water. This is leading to a huge requirement for fully qualified Solar PV installers and more consumers looking to reduce their heating bills. We deliver up-to-date Domestic Energy Assessor training with delivery of the first Green Deal qualifications from early 2012, allowing existing workers to update their skills as well as providing pathways for new entrants to the energy efficiency sector.

These affordable, flexible courses use state-of-the art equipment and are supported by leading manufacturers. As National Skills Academy Lead Hub for London and the South East, all training is employer-led, quality assured, based on National Occupational Standards and aligned to Competent Person Schemes. We also provide arrange of technical training courses including Renewable Energy, Smart Metering and Insulation making us a one-stop-shop for all your Green Deal training needs.

Solar Photovoltaics (PV) The Government’s Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) scheme is currently rewarding consumers and communities that generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources. 45,000 installations have been carried out since April 2010 as Solar PV panels generate clean green energy and can significantly reduce domestic and commercial energy bills, providing savings of up to £1,500 per year.

Our accredited and industry recognised Solar PV training meets existing and future requirements of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) allowing electrical operatives to take advantage of the move to a low carbon economy.

Courses available include Installation of Small Scale Solar PV Systems and Installation & Inspection, Service and Maintenance of Solar PV Systems.

Solar Thermal Hot Water The Government introduced the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) premium payment scheme in August 2011, allowing consumers to access grants to help with the installation of Solar Thermal heating systems.

Our accredited and industry recognised training meets existing and future requirements of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) allowing existing gas, plumbing and heating operatives to carry out installations linked to the RHI scheme.

Courses available include Installation of Small Scale Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems and Installation & Inspection, Service and Maintenance of Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems.

The Green Deal The Government has confirmed plans to launch the Green Deal from 2012 in order to stimulate green growth. The Green Deal will enable domestic and commercial customers to invest in energy saving measures without the requirement to pay for the work upfront. This will be a major development for the Construction, Building Services Engineering and Energy sectors with the potential to create and support up to 250,000 jobs.

Courses meeting the requirements of the emerging Green Deal Kitemark include Domestic Energy Assessment, Loft Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation, External Wall Insulation, Renewable Energy Systems Awareness and Installation of Small Scale Solar PV / Solar Thermal Hot Water / Heat Pumps & Rainwater Harvesting.
