A cat who spends his days lounging at an exclusive designer clothes store has won his owner a £20,000 prize.

Horace, who lives in Streatham with his doting owner Christina Bennett, enjoys long pampering sessions and sitting on designer chairs.

The lazy feline accompanies his owner to work in her clothes shop in Fulham every day and sleeps on £500-a-metre material while she looks after clients.

His diva-like tendencies are reportedly so extreme that he now refuses to use the cat flap at home.

"Instead, he sits close to his back door and shouts for me to open the flap for him," Ms Bennett said.

But Horace’s indulgent behaviour has bagged his owner a 1.75 carat diamond worth £20,000, after she entered him into Gourmet’s Five Star Feline competition to find the UK’s most pampered feline.

She said: “Horace is the biggest diva I know - but he’s so charismatic and charming with it.

"I love nothing more than to spoil him. I knew he was good enough to win the competition, because he really is one in a million and truly deserves to be crowned the UK’s most pampered feline.

"I’m so excited to be receiving the £20,000 diamond prize and it’s all thanks to my beloved cat."

Jonathon Watts, Gourmet brand manager, said: "It’s been fascinating to hear the lengths people go to in order to indulge their cats – from daily massage treatments, regular visits to the pet spa, their own bedrooms and even their own birthday parties.

"It just goes to show we are a nation of animal lovers who love to pamper their pets."
