An author who published her dieting woes is re-releasing her book with a new cover designed by a medical student.

Carole Donaldson, 53, a medical school secretary, first published dieting memoir The Fat Bag Stuck Between a Rock Cake and a Hard Plaice last October.

The book is being relaunched with a new cover by student Mariann Fleishmann, after Ms Donaldson advertised for an illustrator on St George's Medical School message boards.

In the book Miss Donaldson, of Langyroyd Road, Tooting writes under the pseudonym Pearl Barley about her problems with men and weight issues.

The fat bag refers to a bag of clothes the author took to a charity shop after losing weight.

Miss Donaldson said: "It is an issue that a lot of people can relate to, it is funny and quirky.

"I started out writing diaries when I was in my teens, but I never intended to be a writer."

She first started penning the book in 2006, but forgot about it until she found the disk it was saved on when clearing out last year.

The real life Bridget Jones now has her own blog and website.
