A drug dealer gave up £1,500 after being caught by police.
Jamie Gregory, 31, was found to have £635 in his tracksuit pocket and could offer no explanation as to why.
Police acted on a tip off from a member of the public and flagged down Gregory on Robertson Road, Carshalton, in July last year.
As well as the money in his pockets, police also found £835 in a black holdall, but no drugs were found.
Police retrieved the money after taking civil action against Gregory in December, rather than taking him to court.
Detective sergeant Louis Silva, financial investigator, at Sutton Police Station, said: "Even though no drugs were recovered, the court was satisfied that this money came from drug dealing."
"I would like to thank the member of the public for the information they provided. All information from members of the public is treated seriously and we make every effort to prosecute drug dealers."
