Volunteers got their hands dirty in an effort to finish the first stage of a garden project.
Members of the Streatham Common Community Garden group met on Sunday (January 8) to weed the plot of land in the Rookery.
The garden will eventually become home to rows of flowers, fruit and vegetables, and will play host to events promoting environmentally friendly lifestyles.
Jools Townsend, chair of the garden committee, hopes it will become a useful resource for local people.
She said: “Thanks to all who came along for another productive day on site. The big growing space has been conquered.”
