Elmbridge Council has been awarded more than £30,000 to create warmer homes.
The council submitted a bid to access some of the £20m made available by the Department of Health through its Warm Homes Healthy People fund, and was one of 163 successful proposals nationally.
The aim is to help vulnerable people keep warm, to prevent people having to be admitted to hospital and to reduce the number of deaths attributable to the winter weather.
Councillor James Browne said: “I am delighted that the council has secured this funding and we’ll make best use of it, working with local organisations to provide practical help to those who need it most this winter.”
