A man in his 40s was found in Hurst Park by police this morning.

Officers and the Surrey Police helicopter discovered the body at 1.40am after a member of the public raised the alarm.

The police made the find after searching the car park and surrounding area of woodland, which lies in East Molesey, off the A3050 Hurst Road and Grayburn Way.

A police spokesman said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and enquiries are ongoing.”

He said the man has yet to be formally identified and a post mortem will be held at a future date.

Police cordons are in place around the car park and a section of woodland nearby while detectives and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) investigate the area.

The police spokesman said the cordon is expected to remain in place for several hours.
