Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was injured by a hit and run driver.

Craig Hughes, 24, from Fetcham, but who works at a pharmaceutical company in Epsom, was cycling along Kiln Lane, Epsom on Wednesday, January 4, at about 9.30am when he was flung from his bike as he navigated the roundabout near Sainsbury's. Police have now released a description of the driver involved, believed to be a woman with blonde hair who was driving a black, old-style Ford Focus or Fiesta.

After colliding with the cyclist, who suffered six broken ribs, she left the scene without leaving her details or checking to see if Mr Hughes was ok.

Police are asking anyone who knows someone matching the description who may have a car of the same type which has been recently damaged to contact them.

Anyone with information should call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference number P12003169
