Nick Clegg visited Reeves Corner today.

The Deputy Prime Minister met owner Maurice Reeves and his family before walking around the site of the gutted store.

The old site has now been cleared after the House of Reeves store was burnt down during the August riots.

Mr Clegg chatted to local community workers and Reeves store workers.

He was accompanied by Liberal Democrat London Mayoral Candidate Brian Paddick and Carshalton and Wallington MP Tom Brake.

Mr Clegg spoke about making sure rioters were appropriately punished.

He added it was important to make sure they were rehabilitated to prevent re-offending and a repeat of the riots last summer.

The Reeves family is exploring options for the old building site, which has been fitted with new hoardings showing the history of the area.
