A community forum is being set up using funds raised by selling proceeds of crime.

Residents and businesses in West Croydon and London Road will use the cash raised from the police auction to set up the forum.

The London Road West Croydon Community Forum will hold three meetings over the next 12 months where officers from the Broad Green SNT can meet members of the forum to discuss local issues about crime and safety.

London road was one of the worst hit areas during the riots in August last year.

The money was presented to Mr Steve Phaure, chief executive of the CVA by Sergeant Steve Ribano from Broad Green Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) last Thursday, March 8.

Inspector James Knowles, who leads the local Safer Neighbourhoods teams in the area said: “I’m really pleased we’ve been able to help secure this funding for the CVA, which will help them to establish this very worthwhile initiative.

“The local businesses and residents are showing a real keenness to get involved and make their neighbourhood a safer place.

“We need to help them achieve this and make ourselves more accessible, so that they can tell us what the issues are.

“I’m hoping this will encourage traders and residents in the area to work alongside police to help make the area a safer place to work and live.”
