A man has been charged with ticket touting following a crackdown on the offence at last week's UEFA Champions League match.

Salvatore Ciaramella, 25, of Blake House, York Road, Battersea, was arrested for offering to supply a ticket to a designated football match.

Seven other men were also arrested during and after the Arsenal vs AC Milan match for the same offence.

The clampdown, known as Operation Podium, was organised to tackle illegal ticket touts in the lead-up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Officers are working now and during the games to protect the public from becoming victims of touting.

Ciaramella will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on March 20.
