An Olympic hopeful has been presented with a brand new sports car.

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey was given the BMW 3 Series by Cooper Croydon, as part of their sponsorship deal in the lead up to the London 2012 Games.

The sponsorship aims to assist him in meeting transportation needs for training, events and competitions.

The sprinter has already won silver at the 2004 Commonwealth Youth Games. In 2006, he won gold at the World Junior Championships in Athletics.

In 2009 the 23-year-old, who trains at the Sutton Arena in Sutton, was selected for Team GB athletics.

He won bronze as part of the men's relay team along with Simeon Williamson, Tyrone Edgar and Marlon Devonish.

He said: "It's also fantastic having a brand new BMW 3 Series Convertible from now until the end of the 2012 Games.

"There's a lot of travelling to heats competitions and promotional events so it's great being able to arrive there is style.

"I am really grateful to Cooper Croydon and BMW for their support. It's tough trying to qualify for a place at the Olympic Games and it's a big help knowing they are behind us helping to raise funds and awareness."
