A teenage boy was robbed while waiting for his parents to pick him up from near to Thames Ditton station.

The 14-year-old was waiting in Weston Green Road, at the junction with Embercourt Road, between 3.40pm and 3.50pm on Wednesday, March 7, when he was approached by two men.

The first robber snatched the black and grey Nike bag and a black iPhone from the victim and quickly walked away from the scene.

He was joined by the second robber, who was standing a short distance away.

Detective Constable Steph Best said: “This was a nasty incident where a young victim has been targeted by two opportunistic and cowardly offenders.

“Fortunately the victim was not harmed in any way during the incident but he has understandably been left very shaken by what must have been a very upsetting experience.

“The offence took place in broad daylight on a busy road close to Thames Ditton station so I feel certain that passing pedestrians and motorists must have seen this robbery taking place and I would urge them to contact Surrey Police with any details.”

The first was a black man in his late teens or early 20s, 6ft, slim and with stubble.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood pulled up and black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes down both legs.

The second man was a white man in his late teens or early 20s, 6ft 1in, slim and clean shaven.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood pulled up and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Following the incident the Surrey Police officers carried out a thorough search of the location, including out house to house inquiries, and are currently reviewing local CCTV footage.
