A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of stealing electricity.
Police at Tooting Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) received a tip-off from energy company EDF, which claimed the pair had not paid electricity bills for a number of years.
When they visited the property they allegedly found the meter had been bypassed, enabling occupiers to use electricity free or charge.
Thhe pair were arrrested on March 6 and have been bailed to return to a police station at a later date.
Sergeant Eric Ostrowski, from Tooting Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "Nobody likes paying bills, but it is a fact of life for most of us who work hard to pay them.
"Any allegations like this will be followed up and dealt with."
