Boris Johnson surprised students with an impromptu visit to their Young Enterprise trade fair.

The young entrepreneurs were showing off and selling their products in Kingston’s Market Place when they met the London Mayor, who was campaigning in the area, on Saturday, March 10.

A Surbiton High School student said he seemed genuinely very impressed with the goods on offer, which included dishwasher safe rolling pins, USB wristbands, foldable water bottles and pendants with a perfume phial.

The fair boasted 30 companies made up of 495 students at schools and colleges across Kingston and Richmond and Kingston Grammar School was awarded first prize for its waterproof socks.

Mr Johnson was launching his nine-point plan on his visit to the borough, which includes investing in local high streets, creating more jobs and improving transport.

He said: "As Mayor, I have worked hard to deliver for the people of Kingston, including significant funding to improve Kingston High Street, millions of pounds-worth of transport investment across the borough and thousands of additional police patrols over the past two years."
