A helicopter was hovering over Worcester Park yesterday evening after a report that a child had fallen in a lake.
A Metropolitan Police helicopter, three fire rescue units from Battersea, Euston and Heston and three fire engines rushed to the area in Sherbrooke Way at about 6.30pm.
The London Ambulance service also sent a crew to the scene but there was no patient present.
The operation was called off after the boy was found safe and well at home.
Officers carried out enquiries in the area and spoke with a young boy and his parents who stated that their son had been at the ponds but only to throw bread for the swans.
