A man has been detained under the mental health act after scaling a crane and shouting at startled passersby.
Surrey Police were called to Station Approach in Epsom at noon yesterday, March 19, after receiving calls from people worried about the man’s safety.
A man, who was in his 30s, had entered a building close to the train station, climbed one of the cranes being used for the station development and began shouting at startled onlookers.
It took police officers and trained negotiators nearly two hours to talk the man down from the crane.
He was detained under the mental health act and is currently receiving medical help.
