A charity trust fund has launched plans for a summer jazz and blues festival for up to 3,000 music lovers celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Eleanor Shorter Trust, responsible for the upkeep of Haling Grove and King Georges Field, launched the Croydon Summer Festival on Friday March 30 and called for businesses to get involved sponsoring the event.
Organised for June 23, the festival is aimed at an older audience with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra booked to headline alongside the Dave Markee Quintet, Phil Singleton Octet and Kocoa Brown.
Lynne Hale, one of the festival organisers, said: "The idea at the trust is we simply want to cover our costs, but we are hoping local businesses will want to get involved to sponsor the event.
"We are looking at a jazz and blues day so probably more an event for the older audience but also people who just want to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee."
Held at Haling Grove, South Croydon, the event will run from 2pm to 9pm and also include food stalls, and licensed bars.
Tickets go on sale on April 12, to find out more or to sponsor the event email lynne.hale@croydon.gov.uk
