Tickets will go on sale next month for an annual charity music event held in the grounds of Nonsuch Mansion.

Big Band in the Park will take place in the Mansion Gardens in Nonsuch Park in Friday, July 13.

It will see the return of the ever popular BBC Big Band guest conductor Jay Craig and his star-studded orchestra and vocalists.

One of the vocalists, Matthew Ford, had a starring role at the Royal Albert Hall last year during a televised promenade concert also featuring Mr Craig and others from his orchestra.

Support will be provided for the first time for the first time by local trio, the Richard Sutton Snow Band.

The event wi ll again be sponsored buy the Sutton Guardian and Epsom Guardian newspapers.

David Hagger, from Friends of Nonsuch, who organise the event, said: "On past experience a large audience is confidently expected, bringing with them their folding chairs and picnics, to listen and possibly dance to some wonderful big band music."

Hundreds of people are expected to start snapping up tickets for the fundraising event when they go on sale on May 16.

Even wet weather last year could not dampen the spirits, as spectators danced beneath their umbrellas.

Money raised from the concert will be shared equally between the Friends of Nonsuch and Nonsuch Rotary’s Charitable Trust. The Sutton Guardian and St Raphael's Hospice Give a Quid campaign is also set to benefit, with St Raphael's Hospice and Cancer Research UK being named as the rotary's main charities.

Tickets, unchanged at £15 in advance (children under 12 free), will be available from May 26 at the box office (01372 741028) and local retailers.

Gates will open from 5.45 pm, with Jay Craig and his orchestra on at 7.15pm.
