Grand Avenue Primary School : Stranger Alert

    22nd May 2012

    Dear Parents / Carers,

    Stranger Alert

I have been asked by the police to circulate information regarding an
incident which took place at another local school yesterday (Monday
21st May).  The police are currently investigating reports of an
attempted abduction of a child from the school.  The child is safe and
trained police officers are supporting the family and the school.
There have also been similar reports at a couple of schools in Croydon.

I am asking all parents to be extra vigilant when dropping off and
collecting their children.  The following description has been
    circulated concerning the incident.

? A white male with tanned skin approximately 25 years old.  He was
wearing a black jumper with blue shirt underneath, blue trousers and a
black woolly hat.  A female who may also be of interest to police is
described as:  white, long black hair, slim build approximately 5? 6?
wearing a red hooded top and red trousers.?

If you should see anything suspicious you should, without hesitation,
always inform the police of any concerns.  We have requested
additional patrols of the Safer Neighboured Team in the area.

Last week I also had occasion to report an incident to the police
where a stranger approached a child.  This is also being followed up
by the police and at this stage they believe the two incidents are not
    linked.

In school, all staff have been informed and classes have been
following up on ?stranger danger? issues in lessons to ensure the
children remember how to respond effectively to strangers.

Please be reassured that Grand Avenue is working closely with the
authorities involved and will continue to be very vigilant.

    Yours sincerely

    Margaret Barrington

Police guard schools as third abduction scare revealed

Police guard schools as third abduction scare revealed Police guard schools as third abduction scare revealed

Police are investigating a third suspicious incident outside a school following Monday's alleged child abduction attempt in Tolworth.

Kingston police officers were posted outside every single primary and secondary school in the area today.

The latest incident, made public by police today, took place outside a primary school in Worcester Park on Monday at about 3.15pm.

A man was seen on a push bike weaving in and out of cars in the public car park at the front of the school, which has not yet been identified by officers.

The person who reported the incident shouted at the man and he rode away.

He was described as white, in his 20s, and wearing a woolly hat.

A young boy was allegedly grabbed by a man outside Knollmead Primary School, Tolworth, on the same Monday at about 9.10am but he struggled free.

The suspect was also described as wearing a woolly hat and was described as in his mid 20s, with a tan, wearing a black jumper with a blue shirt underneath, black trousers.

He was accompanied by a slim, white woman, with long black hair in a red hooded top and trousers.

Officers have also released information about an earlier incident at Grand Avenue Primary School on Thursday, May 17, where a man and woman are alleged to have approached a girl while she was getting water from a fountain.

She felt scared and ran off to tell a teacher and the police were called.

The Worcester Park incident is being investigated by the same team and a link to the first two incidents has not been ruled out at this time.

Kingston police said extra patrols and house to house enquiries were taking place while CCTV footage from schools was being analysed.

Kingston Borough Commander Chief Superintendent Martin Greenslade said: "I understand that the community will be deeply concerned about these incidents and I want to reassure parents that we are treating them extremely seriously and are conducting vigorous enquiries.

"We have instigated extra patrols in the borough and are maintaining an increased visible presence outside local schools.

"I am appealing to the community to come forward and assist us, with any information, no matter how small that may be, that will help us with these investigations.

"I would remind the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us. I would also ask parents to take the opportunity to remind their children how to stay safe and not to speak with strangers."

Police have asked anyone with information to call the incident room on 07917 271 552 or call Kingston police via 101.

Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
