New committee heads who will head up Sutton Council have been announced after its cabinet was scrapped.

A new committee system has replaced the old executive model, which was made up of a council leader, deputy leader and eight executive councillors.

The new structure will involve more councillors, including those from different political arties, in decision-making processes.

Following a vote, Councillor Colin Hall was named the new deputy leader of the Council, councillor Simon Wales becomes the lead member for resources and Dave Callaghan the chairman of the new children, family and education Committee.

Wrythe councillor Colin Stears is now the chairman of the adult social services and health committee and councillor Jill Whitehead was announced as the chairwoman of the environment and neighbourhood committee.

Councillor Jayne McCoy is the chairwoman of the housing, economy and business committee.
