Cheam day care centre celebrates 40th birthday

A day care centre in Cheam celebrated its 40th birthday on Thursday May 3.
The Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Gerry Jerome joined Cheam Priory's Chairman Alan Bone, and the centre's members and staff for a groovy 1970s inspired party.
Members and staff dressed up in 1970s costumes ranging from a go-go dancer to a hippie and danced through the afternoon to live music from Steve Robbins.
In his speech Gerry Jerome congratulated Cheam Priory Centre on successfully providing 40 years of care and companionship to Sutton's over 60s.
Centre manager Carol Message said: "We all love an excuse to get dressed up for a themed party, but I can honestly say this afternoon has been one of our most successful.”
Cheam Priory Centre was founded in 1972 by Cheam Rotary Club, Cheam Round Table and other local voluntary organisations.
The original Centre has seen many changes over its 40 years and can now offer a much wider range of activities and services to its members.
During the last 5 years, Cheam Priory Centre has developed an unparalleled range a skills and expertise in dealing with members suffering with dementia and Alzheimer's.
