Sutton gets jubilee and Olympic make-over

Volunteers gave Sutton a facelift for the big events Volunteers gave Sutton a facelift for the big events

Sutton got a special make-over this weekend in preparation for the Jubilee and Olympic celebrations.

A team of volunteers have been tidying-up graffiti, picking-up litter and replanting Sutton’s flowerbeds to spruce up the town.

Councillor Jill Whitehead, chair of the environment and neighbourhoods local committee on Sutton Council, said: "I’m delighted that so many people take such pride in their local environment.

The council works hard to keep the borough clean and green, but we welcome anyone who wants to lend a hand and give their area something extra."

if so many people took pride, there wouldn't be a mess in the first place. shame about that.

oh, and i've written council twice about having extra bins put in place between the bus stop and the blocks of flats around me (where an insane amount of trash gets dumped) but have not even heard back about it...
