A number of local heroes have been chosen to carry the Olympic torch through Wandsworth on Monday alongside tennis great Tim Henman.

The four runners coming through the borough on Thursday are not from the borough. 

Local runners are:

* Jeffrey Gordon, 78, of Putney is one of only 18 runners who has taken part in all 31 of the London Marathons, earning the nickname The Ever Presents.

He said: "It is an honour I had never dreamed of, to be carrying the Olympic torch through the city I love."

*Jordan Dalrymple,18, a student at Ernest Bevin College, was selected for his commitment to the sport of volleyball. 

He is also on the Lloyds TSB Local Heroes programme, which is supporting future Team GB hopefuls.

* Alice Blackburne-maze, 12, of Wandsworth, has been picked to carry the torch for her enthusiasm for sports and for acting as a role model to her peers.

* James Bates, 14, is a cross country competitor for Emmanuel School and plays for the Spencer Cricket Club

* Rachael Marsh, 38, founder of Wandsworth charity Ickle Pickles which raises money for neo-natal care.
