A misunderstanding by a Roehampton resident last week led to a police hunt for a possible child abductor.

Officers were scrambled to a residential address in the area last Friday, July 13, after reports of a potential attempted abduction.

A concerned resident had dialled 999 after spotting a white van apparently acting suspiciously near some children.

However after a quick search of the area, officers tracked down the white vehicle.

But after briefly speaking to the driver, police were happy there had been a simple misunderstanding.

A spokesman for Wandsworth police said: "After speaking to all parties, police were satisfied that this was a simple misunderstanding and that there were no offences."
