The brains behind Croydon’s riot clean up thinks the town is on the mend.

Dan Hicks, 26, from South Croydon, set up the Facebook group on the night of the riots and received an overwhelming response from people to help clean up their town.

He said: "I think there is a lot still to do. There is a sense of community now though compared to before and people have more pride in the town.

"I didn’t have a great view on the town before the riots but since then it has pulled everyone together.

"People want to own the town a bit more now and it is a good to see a lot more stuff going on in Croydon.

"It is definitely on the up and there are people like Saif Bonar who are doing good work with projects like Matthews Yard."
