Family plans dog walk for St Raphael's Hospice in North Cheam
1:30pm Tuesday 14th August 2012 in News By Sophia Sleigh, Reporter
A family is saying a big thank you to St Raphael’s Hospice by taking part in a sponsored dog walk.
21-year-old Alice Long, from Carshalton, is walking with her pooch, Harvey, in memory of her grandfather, Patrick Fiveash, who died of cancer in July this year.
She said: “The hospice was amazing and couldn't have done a better job. So this is mine and my family's way of giving something back and saying thank you to the amazing staff there.
“We also have a lot of friends joining in and are doing the walk in memory of their loved ones - all of which passed away with cancer too.
“Patrick fought for 10 weeks with cancer and St Raphael's gave him the best care available with as little pain as possible towards the end.”
She will be walking with her colleagues from Claybrooks Jewellers in Sutton.
The walk will begin at Nonsuch Park at 4.30pm on Sunday August 26.
There will be a stall available selling cakes and refreshments.
