Fugitive found in a loft after helicopter search Fugitive found in a loft after helicopter search

A fugitive has been jailed for 12 weeks after he was caught following a police helicopter search.

Jonathan Andrews-Bligh, of Tintern Road, Carshalton, was found in his loft after initially evading capture on August 9.

A warrant was issued for Andrews-Bligh after he had failed to appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court on July 25 for a charge of disqualified driving.

As police arrived at the property on the morning of August 9, a man was seen to jump over a fence.

Officers surrounded the area and started a search of neighbouring gardens with the help of the police helicopter and a dog unit.

At 11.06am, officers returned to the same address and found a man hiding in a loft.

On August 10, at Croydon Magistrates Court, Andrews-Bligh pleaded guilty, to three offences of driving whilst disqualified, use of a vehicle without insurance and failure to surrender.
