Trackside fire causes rush hour delays

Commuters faced delays this morning after a fire broke out on the tracks at Mitcham.

Fire fighters were called to Mitcham Eastfields at about 7am this morning to a small electrical fire.

As a precaution, the line was switched off delaying passengers travelling in the rush hour commute by up to 30 minutes.

Passengers travelling between Sutton, Balham and Tulse Hill were affected.

Power has since been reinstated with trains now running normally.
