Carshalton and Wallington MP, Tom Brake, calls for recognition of medical volunteers
11:00am Saturday 1st September 2012 in News By Sophia Sleigh, Reporter
The MP for Carshalton and Wallington is calling for the BBC to recognise medical volunteers.
Tom Brake is turning to BBC bosses to raise awareness of Community First Responders (CFRs) through popular programmes like Casualty.
CFRs are trained to respond immediately to 999 calls in their local area.
They go through thorough training and are often able to provide care before an ambulance arrives.

CFR's work for LAS and respond to 999 calls alongside their "salaried" staff, as you put it.

The Big Society Volunteers scheme threatens paid employment and is Dave's way of getting work done on the cheap. I've nothing personal of course against the volunteers themselves.
Michael Pantlin, could you please expand as to why you would not like the services of a CFR?

When is the MP for Carshalton and Wallington going to recognise the wishes of the people for a referendum on Britain's membership of EEC?
