Man found hiding Carshalton loft after police search

A man who ran away from the police when they knocked on his front door was found 20 minutes later - hiding in his loft.

Jonathan Lee Andrews-Bligh, 28, jumped over a fence when the police came to arrest him at his home in Tintern Road, Carshalton, on Thursday, August 9, at around 10.45am.

His attempted escape led to a search involving a helicopter and police dog unit.

However, Andrews-Bligh was discovered 20 minutes later after he doubled back to his home to hide inside the loft.

At Croydon Magistrates Court on August 10, Andrews-Bligh was sentenced to 12 weeks jail and disqualified for two years after pleading guilty to driving whilst disqualified in Middleton Road, Carshalton, on July 16.

He was also sentenced to 14 days jail to run concurrently after pleading guilty to failing to appear at Croydon Magistrates Court on July 25 having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on July 16 at Sutton Police Station.
