Kittens saved from becoming wedding gifts

Kittens saved from becoming wedding gifts Kittens saved from becoming wedding gifts

These kittens were going to be given away by a bride on her wedding day until the RSPCA stepped in.

The three kittens - Mars, Jupiter and Venus arrived at Animal Lifeline in Sutton on Friday August 17.

The two brothers and a sister were due to be given as gifts to the bridesmaids at a wedding in Southall on Saturday.

However, the mother of the bride, concerned for their welfare, called the RSPCA and the kittens were transferred to the safe hands of Christine Redwood.

Mrs Redwood said: "The three little ones came in via the RSPCA as they are absolutely choc-a-block. They were going to a wedding reception on Saturday.

"They were going to be gifts for the bridesmaids and they would be passed around and around - it’s terrible.

"[The bride and groom] were going to give them a kitten each as a present- it’s a joke."

The centre which is usually inundated with animals has also recently received a black kitten that was dumped in a cardboard box in Tooting.

The male kittens have all been neutered and all of them have been micro-chipped and vaccinated.

Home checks are carried out on each person who wants to adopt a cat, they cannot live in a flat and must have a garden.

Well done the Mother of the Bride but why did she have to go as far as calling in the RSPCA? Southall eh? Was this an example of a culture clash regarding animal welfare. The Bride and Groom who came up with this mad idea should be named and shamed. I hope they enjoy the sort of marriage they deserve.

For the most advanced species on the planet, humans are capable of the most incredible stupidity.

Michael - have the bride and groom microchipped and neutered, perhaps?

This is outrageous, one day the cats will grow opposable thumbs and will take over the world, neutering all of us.

Well done to the RSPCA and the mother of the bride.

ps. Please vote for me.

Good point sfocata. It's worrying that people with such warped ideas of what is okay are allowed to breed.

The mother of the bride obviously has far more sense than her daughter who should be ashamed of herself for this act of stupidity. How appalling to think someone can even think if giving these little kittens away like bags of goodies. What next - tiny babies to be gift wrapped and given away at the christening?
