Police appeal to track owners of jewellery
Police are trying to trace the owners of 15 items of expensive jewellery found in possession of a man on a park bench.
On Tuesday (September 18) police arrested a 22-year-old man, who lives in the borough, on suspicion of theft who was bailed to return to the police station pending further enquiries.
Among the 15 items of jewellery was a Tiffany pendant and a silver DKNY and Emporio Armani watches.
PC Mark Sullivan, of Sutton North safer neighbourhoods team, believes these items may have been taken during one or more burglaries and is keen to trace the owners of the jewellery.
He said: "These pieces jewellery may have huge sentimental value for someone and we are keen to find the rightful owners."
