A 16-year-old boy sustained head and eye injuries in an attack by a five-strong gang in Nonsuch Park.
The incident, described by police as "a terrifying ordeal" took place between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Sunday, September 9, at the park on London Road.
Nothing was stolen during the attack and the youth, who did not require hospital treatment for his injuries was able to give police the following detailed descriptions of his attackers, all believed to be 18 or 19 -years-old.
A black man, wearing a red Adidas jumper with a white logo on the front, blue jeans and basketball style shoes. He was also wearing a scarf covering his face.
A white man, wearing a grey tracksuit top and hooded top, with the hood up, and a black woolly hat.
A black man, wearing black combat trousers, a green/blue Ralph Lauren polo shirt, a black baseball cap with the word ‘obey’ written on the side of it and several rings on his right hand.
A white man, wearing an Adidas jumper with a white logo on it, Nike tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.
A white man with jeans rolled up, and a white netted top which revealed a tattoo on his ribs of two little stars and one big star.
Detective Constable Andy Cooper said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the boy involved as he was alone at the time of the assault but he has been able to provide officers with detailed descriptions of the offenders and I hope someone will come forward with information on who they are.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the park around the time of the incident and who has any information which may assist officers with their investigation to contact Surrey Police or the independent charity Crimestoppers if they wish to remain anonymous."
Anyone with information should call the police on 101, quoting reference EP/12/3564.

What ! So everyone on a tram is a criminal.
We don't need small minded people like you making stupid little comment's when the issue of physical violence is clearly a wider issue. Pillock.

Bring the tram to sutton and there will be more crime like this.
You just made a gerneralisation that people who travel by tram are criminals.
If criminals want to travel to the borough, they can use buses, trains and minicabs. It wouldn't bring more cirime if a tram came through Sutton.
Keep your small close minded comments to yourself.
