A police search was launched after some youths were spotted “free running” on a school roof.

The Metropolitan Police helicopter was out searching just before 10pm on Thursday after reports of four youths on the roof of Wandle Valley School in St Helier.

Local officers attended the scene while the police helicopter flew overhead. Four male youths were detained after they came down of their own accord.

They told the officers that they had been ‘free running’ and were allowed to leave after words of advice from police.

The idea of free running, or parkour, is learning how to navigate obstacles quickly and using the best method for getting passed them, based on the type of obstacle and the physical abilities of the individual.
