£400 stolen from pensioner on his own doorstep
A 77-year-old man had £400 stolen on his own doorstep.
The pensioner allowed the thief, who pretended to be visiting to check his pension book, into his house in Middleton Road, Carshalton, on Friday, September 21.
The elderly man had the money in his hand as he produced his pension book when it was taken by the doorstep caller who then left the address.
Anyone who saw someone calling at the address or acting suspiciously in the road, can contact Sutton's burglary and robbery investigation team on 020 8649 0777.
Police constable Duncan Harris, of Sutton’s Crime Prevention Team, urged residents not to allow unknown or unexpected callers into their home.
