Two PCSO's came to the rescue of a pensioner when her mobility scooter broke down in the high street.

Gwen Larner, 78, ground to a halt on September 4 after finishing her shopping, but a member of the public called the police.

Two PCSO's Helen and King and Emma Nagioff ended up pushing the elderly lady the majority of the way home to Thicket Road.

Since then Mrs Larner had the officers round for a cup of tea as a 'thank you' and she has written to the borough and commander Guy Ferguson to express her gratitude.

Gwen, who has two sons, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, said: "The officers did an excellent job after I had become stranded outside Marks and Spencer.

"I was petrified about what I was going to do, then someone called the police and the officers came along to help. They were wonderful."

PCSO Helen King used to be on my Safer Neighbourhoods Team, and it is no surprise she helped Ms Larner.

Helen is willing to help anyone and is a great listening ear.
