Porch collapses in Carshalton Porch collapses in Carshalton

A porch weighing approximately two tonnes collapsed on Wednesday afternoon.

The London Fire brigade attended the scene and neighbours came out to watch the scene in Papermill Close, Carshalton.

Dave Dixon saw the action and said: “All the porches on the front of the houses are un-safe now that one came down.

“It could have happened when everybody from school had come out to play – it was very lucky nobody was killed.

“Now the firemen are saying they are unsafe. They are being propped up now.”

Shouldn't they have had some sort of internal support- usually porches built in that style do - at least those I have seen previously that looks as if all that was holding it up was the side brackets- it was lucky nobody was underneath at the time
