Cyclists invited to bike free bike marking day
A bike shop has teamed up with police to help make bikes harder to steal.
Cyclists are being invited to have their bike security marked free during a Bike Marking Day at Wallington Cycles, on Stafford Road, Wallington.
On Saturday 27 October between 12noon and 4pm, Sutton's Safer Transport Team has invited members of the public to go and free advice on how to deter cycle theft.
The bicycles will be registered on the MPS preferred cycle registration database - www.BikeRegister.com.
The process takes just a few minutes. Registering details of your bike helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold.
Police constable Glen Hall, of Sutton's Safer Transport Team said: "In addition to bicycle marking, we are continuing to use a range of tactics such as high visibility patrols and surveillance to combat cycle theft. We are determined to bring offenders to justice."
