Students from the Anstee Bridge project celebrated their graduation with an event at the Odeon cinema in Kingston.

Anstee Bridge supports Year 11 pupils who find it difficult to engage with school work.

Programme co-ordinator Katherine Greening said: “What was amazing was that three of my girls were very good singers and work with the rock choir.

“Two of them sang live – there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. They sang from the heart. It was very emotional. It just celebrated their year with us.

“They are all young people who were struggling a year ago and have built their confidence.”

Kingston’s mayor Councillor Penny Shelton attended the event, with former mayors Shiraz Mirza and Mary Heathcote.
