A Wandsworth primary school has entered into a partnership with a nearby restaurant as a novel way to raise funds.

Mohawk Spur Steak & Grill, based in Southside shopping centre, has pledged to sponsor Swaffield Primary School in support of its Parent/Teacher Association's fundraising activities.

The new partnership launches at the school quiz night on June 7, when the Spur team will serve food and donate its takings to school funds.

Spur will also be at the Swaffield School summer fair on July 6.

Mohawk Spur’s manager, Wayne Patterson, has also promised further funds through an ongoing loyalty scheme whereby families and friends of Swaffield pupils eating at Spur can deliver their receipts to a special drop box at the school.

In return, Spur will donate 10 per cent of the total.

Mr Patterson said: ”As a local business and a family-friendly restaurant, it’s important that we support our community in ways like this.”

Swaffield PTA representative, Leah Gwynne, said: “Partnerships with local businesses are important to us and we really appreciate what Mohawk Spur is doing to help us raise money towards improvements to the school entrance and the playground.”
