School girls staged a protest yesterday against a change to lunchtime rules.

A video posted on social networking website Facebook showed pupils from Carshalton High School singing 'We Shall Not Be Moved' after rules came in to place which stipulated they should spend lunchtimes out of their form rooms.

Vivien Jones, headteacher of the school, said the protest was made by a small number of pupils, who were unhappy about being advised to go outside and no longer stay inside their form rooms.

She added pupils who wanted to be inside could spend time in designated areas, such as the ICT suite.

Earlier reports that the protest had involved pupils walking out of lessons were incorrect.
