Lucky competition winners found out more about life in the depths of the ocean at a diving day out.
Six teenagers won a trip to Aberdeen and Peterhead in Scotland to check out Sutton-based deep sea engineering firm Subsea 7's workshop premises and a diving vessel that does work on North Sea gas and oil lines.
The youngsters got to try on diving suits and learned how to operate machinery on the sea bed courtesy of the Quadrant House-based firm.
The pupils, who go to Sutton Grammar School and Greenshaw High School, were selected after they won a science challenge at the Phoenix Centre in Wallington earlier this year.
Mark Avent, engineering director at Subsea 7’s Sutton office said: "It was a great opportunity to show the next generation of engineers what we do in greater detail.
"We are keen to work with local school and encourage young people into engineering as a career option."
Councillor Jayne McCoy, chairwoman of the council's housing, economy and business committee said: "This was a great opportunity for our young people.
"Hopefully other firms will follow this example and recognise the benefits of opening the eyes of our young people about the employment opportunities they could offer."
