A Thames Ditton health club has been overhauled and donated its old equipment to a nearby school.

Colets gave Hinchley Wood School thousands of pounds worth of equipment, after collaboration between staff at the club and the school’s business development manager.

Fiona Gravette, who is also a member at the club, noticed the refurbishment and asked what would happen to the machines. The St Nicholas Road health and fitness club decided to donate them to the school.

Along with the weights and toning machines, two instructors, former Hinchley Wood School pupils James Robertson and Harriet Ford, will train pupils and help them use the equipment safely.

Kieran Driver, a pupil at Hinchley Wood School, said: “As a student it is hard to find the money to fund things like a gym membership but now we’ve got our own gym at school it’s possible to build a fitness routine into the week.

“We really like having James and Harriet on hand to give us advice and supervision when using the equipment - especially as they used to be students at the school themselves.”

The gym is now used as part of PE lessons and is offered to sixth form students after school two days a week.
