Twenty-seven cars made up of teams from Keyline’s UK offices, local suppliers and customers have chosen themes which include 1980s TV and film classics Minder, the Dukes of Hazard, Top Gun, Ghostbusters and the A-Team.

The Keyline rally starts on Wednesday 25th June 2014. The cars will drive to their first stopover in Calais, then through Germany and Holland before returning to Dover on Sunday 29th June. Destinations will include trips to Hamburg in Germany on the 27th of June, as well as a stopover at Sneek in Holland on Saturday the 28th of June.

Keyline’s aim is to raise funds and awareness of prostate cancer amongst its staff and customers. They generate funds for the charity through a combination of cause-related marketing and employee fundraising. Keyline have made phenomenal efforts in their fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK over the last few years. In their first year of fundraising in 2010, they pledged an initial target of £25k. However, through the fantastic efforts of staff and customers they actually raised in excess of £400,000 for the charity over the first three years.

Fundraising initiatives have included local branch activities and previous car rallies – including an Italian Job rally and a James Bond Thunderball themed rally that raised in excess of £110k. Keyline also take part in Movember, and have recently signed for Men United – the charities latest campaign creating a movement of men fighting against the disease.

Ex-international footballer and supporter of Prostate Cancer UK, Luther Blissett, is taking part in this year’s. He said: “Keyline’s 1980s themed Rally is a great way to help raise the funds needed for Prostate Cancer UK to continue its fantastic work. It is also about awareness raising and I urge all men to know their risks of prostate cancer – as a Black man I know I have a one in four chance of developing the disease. I can’t wait to be in the driving seat as part of the rally, and see all the brilliant costumes making their way overseas!”

Stephen Riggens, Marketing Director at Keyline, said: “With thousands of local tradesmen and contractors using the Keyline network throughout the UK, the relationship with Prostate Cancer UK is important and has developed through a wide variety of initiatives. This year’s 1980s themed car rally is sure to be a great adventure for all involved, whilst also raising awareness of the charity across Europe and generating much-needed funds.”

Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, will be taking part in the Rally alongside his co-driver and boss, Chief Executive, Owen Sharp. Mark said: “Keyline’s commitment to literally go that extra mile has raised a phenomenal amount for the charity and this year’s rally is yet another milestone on this journey. It is with help like this that we can continue supporting men, providing information, and funding research into causes and treatments. I wish everyone taking part the best of luck, and may the best team win!”
