Marks & Spencer employees and customers in Eltham have raised over £2,800 for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice during a successful Charity of the Year 2013/14 partnership.

The money raised will help the Hospice to continue to provide free specialist end of life care and support for local people.

“Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice was chosen as our Charity of the Year because it is such a wonderful local charity,” says Dee Victor, store manager at the Eltham High Street store.

“Many staff members and customers have been touched by the Hospice so we saw this as an opportunity to give something back.”

Staff came up with innovative and engaging ways to raise funds including bikeathons outside the store, manicures in exchange for donations and even an in-store singer.

Since 2006, the store has raised over £7,000 for Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice.

Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice is a registered charity that provides free specialist nursing, medical care and support for local people with life limiting disease, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it relies on the support of the local community to continue its work.
