From community correspondent Steve Wicks: Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from North Cheam celebrated the centenary of Guiding with a summer fun day. The Brownies performed a dance to ‘Tick, Tock’ and 13 Rainbows made their promise during the event. It was made even more special because of the attendance of two Metropolitan Police dogs with their handlers and two London Fire Brigade engines. The dogs roamed around and posed for pictures whilst the firemen let the girls go in the engines, try on their helmets and assisted them in using their hoses. ‘We’re so grateful for so much support’ said Lynda Morris, Brownie Guide Leader ‘even the church assisted by combining two morning masses into one and when that finished everyone streamed out into the fair which was just starting’.
