On 28th and 29th March The John Fisher School in Purley put on an adapted version of Monty Python's Holy Grail. Head of English Miss Erin McDonnell edited the script and spent sixth months auditioning, casting, rehearsing and encouraging 28 boys from across all seven yeargroups into 56 different parts. 16 staff also gave time after school and on Saturday mornings to make sure it all came together and was indeed, alright on the night.
The story itself was interspersed with some of the better known Python sketches such as Arguments For Sale, The Moaning Yorkshiremen and the famous (nay, notorious) Dead Parrot Sketch.
After the production the boys presented Miss McDonnell with flowers they had bought themselves and gave a gift to Mr Gillin who did the lighting. Headteacher Mark Scully congratulated Miss McDonnell on how she had managed to get all the yeargroups in the school working so well together.
