Councillors will get the chance to grill health bosses over their plans for St Helier Hospital.

The new leader of Sutton Council, Ruth Dombey, set up the special meeting of the Scrutiny Committee on June 11, as her first action in her new role.

It will be a chance for Sutton councillors to demand answers from the Better Services Better Value team.

She said: "In the past week more and more issues surrounding the outcome of the BSBV panel have come to light and residents need to know what NHS bosses are planning to do with our hospital."

Personally I think the current crop of health bosses are not best served by grilling. I'd prefer them heads off and kebabed on skewers. Any other suggestions?

Oh great, more political posturing and "demanding of answers". Why not try to have a constructive conversation with the doctors and actually read their reports? I was against stroke care being centralised but it works. Having everything on your doorstep is great if it's the best care available, but if it isn't you might be better off travelling a bit further and getting decent care. Not saying I want St Helier to lose its A&E but centralising services and getting the best docs all in one place does get better results.
