5-year-old Sutton genius asks David Cameron not to close St Helier Hospital's vital services

A highly intelligent five-year-old has written to David Cameron about the proposals to close St Helier Hospital’s A&E and maternity.

Aadarsh George, five, from Carshalton is a regular reader of the Sutton Guardian and has been following the campaign to Save St Helier.

Sutton’s child genius, Aadarsh, hit the headlines when he was three years old because of his remarkable knowledge of the world’s capital cities.

Aadarsh who goes to school at Muschamp Primary asked his father, Anish, if he could contact Prime Minister David Cameron about St Helier Hospital.

Proud father, Mr George, said: "I am very happy about Aadarsh’s initiation after reading the Sutton Guardian campaign.

"A five-year-old boy has concerns about the closure of the hospital he was born in and which provide him health care.

"He was browsing the net. He showed me and was telling me about the campaign.

"He asked me ‘Dad why can’t you campaign?’ - I said I am supporting, I signed Tom Brake’s petition and the Sutton Guardian’s.

"He said ‘Why can’t you send a complaint to Parliament?’"

With the guidance of his father, Aadarsh wrote a letter for the Prime Minister where he thanked him for the £219m promised to the hospital.

However he goes on to say: "I have born in this St Helier hospital after a major caesarean to my mother.

"Twice I have been taken to the A&E of St Helier Hospital directly from Muschamp School, many times from the home to the hospital under my five years of life. This hospital is so important to me."

At the end of the letter Aadarsh makes it clear that he wants no cuts in any of the Hospital’s units and instead asks for additional facilities.

On Tuesday, June 26, Aadarsh received a reply on behalf of David Cameron which said: "Mr Cameron very much appreciates the time and trouble you have taken to get in touch about St Helier Hospital.

"Because the Department of Health is best placed to respond to the matters you raise, he has asked me to forward your letter and enclosures to the Department so that they may reply to you directly."
